I’m a 27-year-old young man named Li Hua. I was born in Haidian District, Beijing, where I finished my study in primary school and high school. Later on, I attended Peking University and graduated with brilliant academic performance.
After my graduation from Peking University in 2001, I decided to study abroad in London University, for I wanted to broaden my horizon and have access to an international research environment. In 2005, I got my Doctor’s Degree in London University due to my research in math. Thinking highly of my ability in math, a British company wanted to employ me. Good morning, everyone. It was an honor to have been selected to go on a study tour to Britain. The valuable experience, which was really unforgettable and meaningful, will be always treasured in my heart. As soon as I arrived at Heathrow Airport, I was warmly welcomed by my home-stay family. After feasting my eyes on the fabulous sights along the way home, I was treated to British-styled food cooked by the hostess. Though clumsy with my knife and fork, I was impressed by the delicious food and humorous casual chats during the meal. So friendly and easygoing was the family that we got along quite well with each other.
The next day, I, together with my classmates, attended a lecture introducing Westminster College. With the help of the professor’s vivid presentation, we all thought highly of the college and learnt a lot about the differences between Chinese and British teaching methods. Then, my home-stay family showed us around London. Not only did those famous spots, like Big Ben and London Eye, leave me with a deep impression, the beauty of the foreign culture and well-protected environment also attracted us when we were walking along the streets.
Time passing quickly, soon came the time of departure. It came as a surprise when our home-stay family threw a party to celebrate the wonderful time we had. Some danced, and others sang songs to say goodbye. I couldn’t help but shed tears.
The short trip really broadened my horizon and enlightened my mind. It will be forever cherished in my memory.

We have a general technology class this term to learn some basic skills. Inspired by the images found online, we cautiously drew our design of a bookshelf on the paper with rulers and pencils. To save time, every one of us took charge of one piece of our works. A Low-carbon Day
The students in our class took part in an activity of “Experience a Low-carbon Day” during the Labor Day vacation.
The Labour Day began with a fine weather and all the students gathered at the bus station, for we decided to go out by means of public transport instead of taking private cars. After a long visit to the park, we had a great lunch at noon. We refused to use the disposable chopsticks served by restaurant and instead we used the chopsticks we had prepared to save more trees. It’s known to us that producing disposable chopsticks will destroy a large number of forests.
Afterwards, we went to the supermarket to do some shopping. All of us used cloth bags to pack the stuff rather than plastics bags as the “White pollution” is getting much worse. Exhausted but happy, we got back to school. Although we felt very hot, we were still using electric fans because air conditioners produce much greenhouse gases, which traps more heat from sun and causes global warming and even wastes more electricity.
By experiencing the Low-carbon lifestyle in Labour Day, we both realize the importance of everyone’s responsibilities. We should develop an awareness of living in a low-carbon way in our daily life. It’s human beings that can save the earth from the severe situation nowadays.

According to a survey conducted recently, about 25% of the college students do part-time jobs in their spare time. The number will go up to 72% when it’s in the summer vacation. What these college students take up ranges from tutors, waiters to salesmen.
And what are the reasons for it? Most students rank financial need at the top, saying they want to pay partly for the increasing tuition and relieve the economic pressure of their parents. What’s more, as students grow up into adults, they long for being independent economically. Therefore, earning their living becomes a preference as they can buy what they want with their own income.
As far as I am concerned, college students can benefit a lot from doing part-time jobs. The most positive significance is that students gain social experience in real practice of working and become aware of the hardship of earning a life. In addition, through work, they can communicate with different people and broaden their horizon, which may enable them to have an advantage over others in their future career.

Recently, a survey on homework preference has been conducted among senior three students. The results are as follows.

However, merely 7% of the students hold the opinion that Chinese homework is what they pay most attention to, while approximately one fifth (21%) students maintain that the homework of other subjects is most important. The picture seems to tell us “haste makes waste”. The water is running fast. However, without a proper method, say, a suitable container, the goal of getting enough water will not be easy to achieve. As far as I am concerned, we should take future benefit into consideration when we make a decision. I think the boy will be regretful, for he will never get apples from the tree the next year.
