The bar chart does mirror a not uncommon social phenomenon in contemporary China. It presents clearly the purposes of students using mobile phone. Based on the data provided, one can see that college students mainly use mobile phone to study, which accounts for the biggest share of 48%. It is closely followed by entertainment, 32%, reading reference, 18%, and others, 2%.
After carefully looking over this pie chart, I could not help thinking that it has revealed a rather common and popular situation in modern China. We are very likely to ask what may account for this phenomenon. In my opinion, there are many factors at play. At the very beginning, it is closely related to the rapid and remarkable advancement of our economy and society. As we have witnessed, ring the past decades, China has advanced greatly in all aspects, and consequently personal per capita disposable income increased markedly as well, so nearly all the students can afford to have a mobile phone.
